Baja Style

See how life in Baja has
something for EVERYONE, Ole`!
(Including all your favorite Mexican foods & seafood dishes!)

Proceed with caution as Baja is NOT the Mexico your
government news sources try to scare you with!

Destination Baja California

Whether you are relocating, taking an extended summer vacation with your family, or just planning a site-seeing trip along the beautiful shores of Baja California, Mexico, you'll want to make note of the local numbers listed below.

The Baja 500 and Baja 1000 races wind through Baja Norte (Northern Baja) in the months of June and November, and you will need to plan far ahead to secure desirable accommodations.

Gas stations, churches, and hospitals can be accessed from both the main highway or the toll road in either direction. Please bring your passports and expect a long wait when crossing the U.S./Mexico border in either direction (but it's worth the wait)!

Restaurants and street-side BBQ's line up along both directions of  "Benito Juarez" (the main highway)  through  Rosarito Beach, which is just south of the border town of Tijuana, renowned for it's bullfights.

Picturesque and quaint roadside  eateries and grills, known as  cantinas, can be found while driving  through the communities of Puerto Nuevo (lobster capital of the world) and throughout Cantamar, as within many small towns located between the U.S. border and Ensenada.

Heading south toward Ensenada, just beyond the town of Cantamar, is La Bufadora, with a cliffside "Blow-Hole" attraction.

Gaze out over the Pacific Ocean to view dolphins, whales, and a lone black shark, named "El Diablo", if it still exists!  (5 years later we are still looking for it!)

Traveling south is the city of Ensenada, home to the landmark "Baja 500" & "Baja 1000" races, which begin ocean-side, wind southeast through vast stretches of desert trails, and arrive back home again to this popular seaport-cruise destination.  The races are followed by the ultimate Fiesta Victory Party, with dancing in the streets (and hotel lobbies).

Most laws are the same in Baja, Mexico, as in the U.S. (such as no drunk driving, or cell-phone use while behind the wheel).

Law enforcement officials are polite & courteous toward American citizens, as well as foreign nationals, all  while protecting them (not at all what your media, the press, or even your government tries to tell you).

Many shop owners are bilingual (Spanish and English) and will accept either dollars or pesos for payment of goods and services.

Please keep in mind that terrorist or other criminal-types of behavior are not tolerated, nor excused, in this Christian nation, so leave them behind at the U.S. border, or expect swift pursuit, immediate prosecution, or deportation back home.  Federales actively profile for your safety.

The following links will provide details for driver information, road conditions, and Baja's own "Green Angels" (for roadside assistance)!
